We had heard from someone about a park down in Oakmont that overlooks the river (Allegheny, maybe?) and last Sunday was a gorgeous day so we decided to head down there in the afternoon.
We went into town first and walked along the RR tracks which both of our boys like to do.
Then we found the park and were able to get down to the shore of the river. The boys had a great time throwing rocks into the river. Jason gave them a crash course in rock skipping. Carter thought it was fun, Jack was more content to just chuck the rocks into the water.:0)
Carter practicing his rock skipping skills.
The boys found some duck friends.:0)
Jason's good friend from college, Jeff, was in Pittsburgh all week for training (he works for Heinz) and was able to come to the house for a visit Wednesday evening. We had dinner and enjoyed catching up. I don't think I had seen Jeff since our wedding and he had never met Jack before. He and his family live out in California so we unfortunately have never met his two beautiful kiddos. Maybe someday we'll make it out that way.:0)
Ah....two men and a grill!!!
Jeff brought Carter some books about card tricks and this "Magic Pouch". He also impressed us with some fabulous card tricks.:0)
I had to include this shot of Jack refusing to let me take a picture. His exact words were, "But I DON'T WANT TO!!!!"Last night was the Fireman's Parade in Saxonburg. The boys and I (Jason had an Elders' meeting) headed over to Miss Fett's house to enjoy the festivities.
One of the firetrucks with it's lights going. They turned their sirens on and blew their horns during the parade too. Amazingly, Jack was not at all freaked out by the noise.
The kids waiting along the parade route to catch candy.
Jack enjoying some candy that he caught. He played on these RR ties more than he watched the parade. Go figure!!!
Carter enjoying the parade and the gobs of candy that he got.:0)
We're still working with Jack on drinking from a regular cup.....he had more of this cup of water on his shirt and pants than in his mouth.:0)Even though it was raining when we arrived at Miss Fett's, it stopped and held off for the whole parade. The boys and I had a great time watching the parade and enjoying friends from church who were there.:0)
