"Life Of The Party"

Last night was the Spring musical at Carter's school. As you may have guessed, it was entitled, "Life Of The Party". It was a 60's twist on the story of Mary and Martha. The kids did a great job and it was a very fun show to watch.:0)

Crazy Hairs

Whenever Jack wakes up with bedhead, we tell him that he has "crazy hair". He usually runs his hands through his hair to feel it sticking up and says, "Oh, my hair is so crazy!!!". It gets especially crazy when his hair gets longer and needs to be cut. Sometimes it literally looks like he slept in a hand stand.:0) His hair needs to be cut soon so when he woke up this morning this is what it looked like. As Jack would say, he had some major "crazy hairs"!!!:0)

Opening Day

Today was Opening Day for Carter's baseball league. He palyed this morning which was perfect because it's gotten pretty hot here this afternoon. The weather was gorgeous.....warm, sunny, and breezy. Carter got on base twice.....once on a hit and another time on a walk. He also made a great catch in the outfield that got the player out. His team (the Tigers) won 3-2 but most importantly, all the boys seemed to have a fun time playing.:0)

Rough Night, Good Day

Jack had a rough night last night. He was up from about 1a.m. to 4a.m. throwing up. I think the poor boy went through 4 pairs of pajamas......I would get him all cleaned up, think he was okay, get him dressed again and then he would get sick again. We were finally able to go back to sleep around 4a.m. and he hasn't gottem sick since. I'm hoping it was just something he ate yesterday or a mild stomach bug. It wiped him out though......he slept until 8a.m. and then went right down for his nap at 12:45p.m. Hopefully it is all out of his system.:0)

Since I didn't get to partake of the goodies at The Oakmont Bakery when we went there a couple of weeks ago with my parents, I suggested that we head down there this morning. We got our goodies and ate there at the bakery. Afterwards, we walked along the railroad tracks on main street there in Oakmont. Oakmont is a really pretty part of Pittsburgh and we've enjoyed going down there.

We plan to have a low-key dinner at Panera tonight and then let the boys play at Alameda Park (a.k.a-the purple playground). It's gorgeous here today with temps reaching the upper 70's so it will be a great night to be outside.:0)

Jackisms

Just a few cute things Jack has said lately:

Yesterday Jason asked Jack if he could read him a certain book. Jack said, "No, Daddy, maybe tomarto (tomorrow)." I don't think he's ever used the word tomorrow before and the way he pronounces it is hilarious.:0)

Lately if Jack sees Jason and I hugging, he will come up to us, put his arms around our legs and say, "OOOHHHH, my friends", in a really sappy/sweet voice. It's so adorable.:0)

This is how Jack's bedtime prayers have gone lately:
"Dear God.....thank you for the potty....and the baffroom (bathroom).....and the party with the baby (Baby Amelia).....and Miss Angie......please help us to loving you.....thank you sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins......in Jesus name we pary....AMEN."
I just LOVE hearing his little voice talking to God and saying exactly what is on his mind.

Jason went out to breakfast the other day with a guy form our congregation who moved here recently from Turkey. His name is Oz (sp??)......pronounced with a long "O". Jack asked Jason where he was going and Jason said, "Out to breakfast with my friend, Oz." The rest of the day, Jack kept asking where Jason was and I would tell him that Daddy was over at church working. Every time, he would say, "No, Mommy, Daddy is haivng breakfast at the Oz." I kept telling him that Oz was a person that Daddy had eaten breakfast with but he kept referring to him as though he was the restaurant that they ate at. Funny kid!!!:0)

Quick Update

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. There hasn't been a whole lot going on with us. I'll give you all a quick update though. Jason went back for his follow-up appointment yesterday for his endoscopy. The doctor pretty much told him exactly what he had told him in the hospital. There is nothing serious going on, just a small irritated spot that should heal on its own. Jason will be taking a medicine similar to Nexium to keep acid from going up the esophagus and irritating the spot even more. He also has to continue to avoid coffee (YIKES!!) and high-stress situations (double YIKES!!). How does one expect a pastor to avoid stress not to mention a pastor with two boys at home?!?! We'll see how that goes!!! We're just very thankful that nothing serious is going on.

I cracked a tooth last night (actually an old filling in a tooth) and have to go to the dentist tomorrow to get it fixed. Fun times!!! At least I'm not in any pain right now....I just can't eat on that side of my mouth.

Jack didn't nap yesterday and was up at 5a.m. We were doing quite well with the whole sleeping thing for a couple of weeks and now he's getting himself all messed up again. It's like he doesn't sleep normally for several days and then has to play catch-up for the next several days. I just wish that he would get into some sort of "normal" sleep pattern. I really think that God is trying to teach me something with this whole sleep thing. Why else would he give someone who loves to sleep a child who seems so dead set against sleeping?!?!? Like they say, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right? Right now I definitely don't feel stronger, just REALLY tired!!!

This Saturday is opening day for Carter's baseball league. I will take lots of pictures and post about his first game. We're excited to see how the season goes for him. He has really stepped it up in practices and has improved a lot. I'll let you know how he does.:0)

Great Day:0)

Yesterday was a great day for us. Jason has been have some problems with his throat/swallowing lately and went in yesterday for an endoscopy to check things out. We were both nervous because his symptoms can be caused by some pretty serious conditions (i.e. cancer) but we put it in God's hands knowing that no matter what, He would see us through. Jason was VERY nervous about the whole thing because he HATES needles and pretty much any other thing related to medical treatment in general (he gets squirmy just talking about shots, IVs, etc). He had to get an IV for his procedure and that was probably the thing that he was most nervous about. He had to be there VERY early so a good friend of his took him to the hospital and then I came as he woke up from the procedure. God blessed him with wonderful nurses, doctors, etc. who took great care of him. The doctor saw a small irritation/ulceration at the top of Jason's esophagus....right about the point where you swallow, which is why he was having trouble swallowing. He will have to take a medication called Gaviscon for a while to help it heal and he also has to give up coffee. I think this is probably the worst part of the whole thing for him!!!:0) We are so thankful that it was nothing serious....Praise God!!

We went out to dinner at Olive Garden to celebrate Jason's good news. Here are some pics:

He Is Risen!!!

Happy Easter, Everyone!!! We pray that you had a blessed day as you celebrated the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We had a great day as a family and with our "family" at church. Jason headed over bright and early for the sunrise service and then the boys and I joined him for our church's Easter breakfast. It was nice to be able to see Jason for more than just a few minutes between services. We attended the 8:15a.m. church service and then the boys and I went to Sunday School. During the last part of the Sunday School hour, there was a puppet show for the kids. Jack loved it and actually sat still through the whole thing.

The rest of our day was fairly normal. All three of my "boys" napped during the afternoon and then I made a big dinner of baked ham, mashed sweet potatoes, asparagus, crescent rolls, and lemon cake. It was quite delicious!!! After dinner, Jason and the boys got their Easter treats. Jason got a basket full of Reese's Peanut Butter goodies and the boys each got a pair of galoshes stuffed with all kinds of goodies. Both boys loved their galoshes and Jack wore them around the house all evening. It was a wonderful day for us all and we pray that you all had a wonderful day too!!!

Easter Egg Hunt and Baseball Practice

Today was the big Easter egg hunt over at church and the boys were SO excited to go "hunt" eggs.:0) Carter was once again on a quest to find an elusive "snake egg". These are eggs that are hidden extra hard and you win a prize if the number that is on your snake egg is called. He didn't find one but his buddy, Ryan, did which he was excited about. Jack was so eager to find eggs and had a VERY hard time being patient before the egg hunt started. Once it did start, he kept passing over tons of eggs because he wanted ones that were certain colors or sizes. Such a goof!!! Both of the boys found plenty of eggs and came home with tons of candy.

Carter had baseball practice this afternoon. I went for a while by myself while Jason stayed at the house while Jack napped. Once Jack woke up, I went home and picked him up to take him back to the ballfield with me. It's definitely MUCH easier to watch baseball practice when you don't have a 3-year-old running around the whole time (and I mean literally the whole time....the child never stopped moving!!!). Carter had a great practice and I was able to finally get some pictures of him practicing.
