Our 4th of July

Jason had to preach on the 4th of July so we had our celebration the day before. I made a new, delicious pizza recipe from my "Cooking Light" magazine and we finished off the meal with apple crisp topped with homemade ice cream. What's more American than pizza, apple pie, and ice cream??? After dinner, we headed outside for our fireworks display courtesy of our resident fireworks expert, Jason.:0) Carter loves setting off our own fireworks and it sure beats the crowds at big displays. It was a bit windy so Jason had a heck of a time getting some of the fireworks to light. He knows how much Carter loves them though so he never gave up......what a great Daddy!!! Jack liked the smoke bombs and snakes but once Jason started settting off ones that made noise, Jack retreated to his playhouse to hide. We had a very nice, low-key 4th of July. Here are some pics:

The delicious pizza I made. This was the first time I have ever made homemade dough and it turned out really well.:0)

The apple crisp. This picture doesn't do it justice, plus you don't get the full effect without a mound of homemade ice cream on top.:0)

Our Fireworks Master

Ooooooh.....Ahhhhh......smoke bombs!!!

Carter was VERY excited about our fireworks.:0)

Jack watching in eager anticipation.:0)

Jack kept calling the fireworks "candles" and every time Jason would light one he would yell, "Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!"

Yeah, fireworks!!!!

Me and Carter enjoying the festivities.:0)

Me and Jack.:0)

Jason and the boys watching the snakes "grow".

Jack felt the need to lay down for a better view.:0)

Carter lighting some snakes with a sparkler.

The Fireworks Master with the tool of the trade.....his lighter.:0)

Fun with sparklers!!!

Carter and one of his party popper poses.:0)

Jason's victory pose. Victory over the wind!!!!

Jack peeking through one of the windows in his playhouse. He didn't like the noise but he was still very curious about the fireworks.:0)

Telling me that the noisy fireworks make him sad.:(

Checking out the action from the safety of his playhouse.:0)

Jack collected these little circles from the party poppers. He loves to count anything!!!

My three guys enjoying the 4th of July. Happy 4th, Everyone!!!
