Carter's Christmas Party

I volunteered to help out with Carter's class Christmas party this year so Jack and I spent an hour this morning with 18 crazy 4th graders.:0)

The kids had already exchanged gifts before the party, so Carter was excited to show me the giftd he had gotten from his teacher and friends. One of the other moms started the party off with some "Christmas Movie Trivia". She sent home a note a couple of weeks ago challenging the kids to watch the Christmas shows that were on so that they would know the answers. Some of them really knew their stuff!!!

After trivia, the kids did a relay race where they had to carry peppermint candies on a spoon and dump them into a stocking across the room. The team with the most candies in their stocking at the end of the race won. The kids found it very challenging trying to keep the slippery candies on the spoons!!!

After the relay race, one of the other moms served a treat made with a layer of ice cream sandwiches topped with whipped topping which she them decorated. It was a great treat for kids!!

To finish off the party, the kids put a piece of paper on top of their heads and drew things that one of the moms told them to draw. After they were done, they got to look at their creations. They all thought it was pretty funny!!

After the party, the kids were dismissed for the day. The boys and I went to pick up Aleah (the daughter of our friends' who stays with us after school 2 days a week) from her classroom and headed home. I let the kids open the gifts that they had gotten for each other. Carter was thrilled to get a Transformer and card game. Jack got a remote-control backhoe that he has yet to figure out.:0)

My parents got here safely around 2pm and took Carter and Aleah to play laser tag. Jack is sleeping and I have the quiet house all to myself.:0)
