Visit From Santa!!!

Santa came to our house last night!! A member of our congregation dresses up like Santa and tries to visit the homes of all the children enrolled in Sunday School at our church. It must be quite an undertaking but we are so grateful that he takes the time to do it every year. Jason and I knew he was coming but the boys were very surprised when they heard bells outside our front door.:0) We never know how Jack will react to things but he warmed up to Santa right away and immediately began talking Santa's ear off!! Carter hasn't believed in Santa for several years now but he is always a good sport when he visits.

Santa read the boys the story of Jesus' birth and once he told them the true meaning of Christmas, he read them "The Night Before Christmas" in a great, booming "Santa" voice. Jack was actually quite attentive during both stories (and yes, that is a backpack that he has on in all of the pictures........he's quite into backpacks these days!!).

After the stories, Santa got out his "gift book" and wrote down 3 gifts that the boys want for Christmas. Then he gave them each a candy cane and a small gift from his bag. Jack was very interested in Santa's bag and we had to keep him from helping himself to its contents.

Before Santa left, we all sang "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer". Jack got quite a kick out of Santa singing and ringing his bells!! Santa even let Jack take a turn ringing the bells.

Our visit from Santa was one of those times when you truely see Christmas through the eyes of a child and sometimes you need to just slow down and take in the wonder of it all. To think of that tiny baby born in a stable on a starry night in Bethlehem and marvel at the love that God has for each and every one of us. What an amazing Christmas gift!!
